The 2003 season was highlighted by all of the Spirit teams attending a national tournament. The 10U team was extremely successful at the PONY Nationals Tournament of Champions in Sterling, VA and finished in 3rd place. The 12U and 14U Purple teams also made a fine showing at the tournament. The 14U Black, in its 1st year, competed in the NSA "A" World Series in Charlotte, NC and finished tied for 13th out of 107
teams. As a result of finishing high, they were invited to the NSA Super World Series in East Peoria, IL where they finished tied for 9th place. The 14U Black team has already qualified for the 2004 NSA World Series in Columbus, OH and promises to continue to have a strong team. The 16U team traveled to Kissimmee, FL to compete in the
F.A.S.T. Nationals, and the
18U team traveled to their national games held in North Carolina. It was a great season for all teams and the Spirit will field five teams for the 2004 season; 10U, 12U, 14U Silver, 14U Black and 16U. In late July of 2004 the Spirit teams culiminated their great season again at the PONY national tournament in Sterling, VA. The 10U and 12U teams finished tied for 5th place, and the 14U Black finished 25th at the NSA
"A" World Series in Columbus, OH. In July of 2005 for the first time in its history, all the Spirit teams, 10U, 12U Purple, 12U Black, 14U Silver and 16U Black, attended the NSA "A" World Series in Charlotte, NC. The 16U Black finished tied for 13th place and earned a berth to the Super World Series in East Peoria, IL. In 2006 the Spirit 10U, 12U Black, 12U Purple, 14U Black and 16U Silver continued their
quest back at the NSA "A" World Series in Columbus, OH. The 10U earned a berth to the Super World Series in East Peoria, IL.
The goal of the Philadelphia Spirit is to continue to give each young women the opportunity to play the best fast pitch softball available and to emphasize that education and sports can work together. It takes commitment and team work, on and off the field, by coaches, parents and the players to get the job done!
